Mel explodes on disgruntled students

Mel went off on Alicia Estrada, an Assistant Professor of Central American Studies at Cal State University Northridge last night, because she questioned his depiction of Mayans in "Apocalypto".
The fiesty prof and several students grilled Mel about his knowledge of Mayan culture and demanded to know if he had done research before making the film.
Mel’s response: "Lady, f**k off!" After having them hauled from the room, he yelled, "Make your own movie!"
Hmm… a "Being Mel Gibson" that attempts to sift through the crap that fills his brain?

Mel accused of stealing
What a year Mel Gibson is having… his anti-semitic comments, his violent movie labeled inaccurate and now… he’s being called a thief!

The latest person Gibson has offended is Mexican film director, Juan Catlett, who claims that Gibson stole his ideas to use in his new film "Apocalypto". Catlett says Gibson pilfered scenes from his film "Return To Aztlan" after he paid just 100 pesos for a copy of the film.
Catlett said of "Apocalypto": “There are images very similar to those in my film. It seems my movie served as a consultancy and a reference – and they only paid me 100 pesos.”
Both films deal with the subject of ancient civilizations dying out; however, Gibson’s film has made millions while Catlett’s 1989 film is all but forgotten.
Well, Mel’s career is all but forgotten too!

Toughest Actor of the Year

Ahh — the end of the year award season is upon us. There are awards for comedy and for drama… but is there one for toughest badass motherf***er? I thought not.
Well if such a thing did exist, it would be given to Native American actor Rudy Youngblood.
The actor, who plays Mayan hero Jaguar Paw in "Apocalypto", toughed it out through the entire shoot with multiple injuries, refusing to tell director Mel Gibson the extent of the damage because "nobody’s going to be my momma."
"I tore three ligaments in each foot, I ripped my quad muscle, separated my shoulder, popped out my collarbone, and I ran for months with a two-and-a-half-inch thorn in the bottom of my foot," he brags.
Someone give this guy a painkiller and a special award: Still Able to be Heroic With Multiple Injuries!

Quote of the Day

"I hate it. I despise it. I think it’s despicable."
"It would be as though somebody did a movie on our American culture and they had Madonna and Marilyn Monroe riding in a car together, or they had a meeting of George Bush, Teddy Roosevelt and George Washington because why not condense a couple hundred or a couple thousand years?"
"What is scary is that people will leave the movie thinking that because the characters were speaking Mayan there is an air of authenticity. "

Bloody weekend at the box office

This weekend, blood and gore awaits moviegoers as two violent and intense thrillers, "Blood Diamond" and "Apocalypto", will be battling head-to-head.
Both films are noted for their extreme amounts of violence and gorey scenes. "Apocolypto" is described as "unrelenting, often grisly, and ultimately sadistic" by CNN.
In a hilarious piece about the making of the film, Mel is said to have yelled at his cast, "I need to see the blood! Your character is going to die soon! Attention! We are all dying here! We are all dying!"
"Blood Diamond", which is being released at the height of the Christmas jewelry shopping period, is said to turn people off from buying diamonds due to its intensity. It features scenes where enemy rebels turn young boys into killing machines and chop off limbs of innocent people to spread fear.

And the cycle continues!

Mel once had mullet, now makes cryptic remarks
"The things that happened right before their downfall are occurring in our society right now. People think that modern man is so enlightened, but we’re susceptible to the same forces."
– Mel Gibson telling Jeanne Wolf of Movies.com about the Mayan civilization depicted in his "Apocalypto."
