Former party boy Ben Affleck and solid as a rock rarely partied ever Jennifer Garner are shaping up to be among the most nurturing parents in show business. Hard to believe Ben was Jenny from the Block’s boytoy years ago. Now he’s more like a living muppet!

Garner trusts Ben with baby… sort of
Jennifer Garner is one of the most normal moms in Hollywood. She doesn’t party every night, and she actually seems to enjoy hanging out with Violet. In the new issue of People magazine, she reveals:
How motherhood changed her: I call my mom now and say, "You know all the dinners you made that I said ‘No’ to and went off and ate peanut butter? I’m sorry. I get it. I slaved over roasting this, and (Violet) goes, ‘No, no, no!’ "
Lessons learned: I was rocking her, and she was fascinated by the light hitting the ceiling. I thought, "God, for the past five years, I haven’t stopped to look at light on the ceiling for (one) second." To slow down and go at her pace has been such a gift.
Losing the baby weight: It took me a long, long time. I just wasn’t that motivated. I wanted to play with her. Then I got on the treadmill, stopped stuffing my face and lost the weight. I cut out croissants, bagels and muffins – all the good stuff. And went back to having a salad once a day and protein.
Ben Affleck on daddy-duty: He does a good job. I mean, okay, maybe I wrote out what he was supposed to make for her (to eat) today while I was gone. But that’s just me being paranoid. He’s great – he can do it.
On the Mommy-Daddy bond: There’s nothing more emotional than seeing your partner – the man you love – with your baby at any time: the first time, the second, yesterday, today. There’s nothing more beautiful.

Jennifers avoid each other
One of the fun events of last night’s Golden Globes was playing "spot the exes". Would Aniston show up and make the night hell for Angelina? Or were Cameron and Justin going to get into a huge knock-down right there on the Red Carpet? Two exes narrowly avoided each other for real… Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez!
The pair, who split up in 2004 after dating for two looong years and a brief engagement, both attended the NBC/ Universal Golden Globes afterparty with their spouses. And they did not want to see each other!
Jen and Ben avoided a run-in by making an abrupt departure, thanks to quick-thinking security guards.
“J-Lo came up one elevator and we had her wait a moment as we escorted Jen and Ben onto another elevator out of the party,” says the insider. “Thankfully they missed each other, but only by a few moments!”
J-Lo has the long nails for a fight but Garner has much more extensive training!

Like riding a bike
Jennifer Garner is one of the more politically active celebs in Hollywood, but it wasn’t always that way. She and Ben stay up late nights debating politics now because he taught her the basics.
She says, "I didn’t grow up in a politically active family like [Ben] did, and I’m jealous of him that way."
"I’ve always felt slightly behind. But it’s like baseball: The more you know about it, the more you like it."
"I’m finally learning the difference between Sunni and Shiite, you know what I mean? And thank goodness, I find that (Ben and I) are pretty much on the same page."
Hmm…. if politics are like baseball… is sex like riding a bike?
