Bono enters Madonna adoption debate
U2 rocker Bono has entered the debate raging over Madonna’s adoption of a Malawi boy, and the Material Girl is not going to like his opinion.
He has made an offer to help the natural father of the 14-month-old boy so that he can keep his child.
Bono is reported to have said that he would like to offer Yohane Banda a job and that he believes Yohane would work well at Edun, his wife Ali Hewson’s ethical clothing label.
In comments reported by the Sun newspaper, Bono said: "We’re trying to get jobs to Africa - then people will be able to keep their children."
His comments are the latest in the debate about whether Madonna’s adoption of David Banda is ethical and if it would be better to invest money in the countries that many adopted children come from in order to allow them to stay there.
A full judicial review of the interim adoption order granted to Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie is to take place following an appeal by the Malawi Human Rights Consultative Committee (MHRCC), an alliance of 67 activist groups.
