Is Joel still stuck on ex Hillary Duff or is this just a story she’s throwing out there to save face?
A source tells Us magazine that he has been calling Duff, but she “doesn’t want to talk to him”.
The source, a close friend of Hillary’s (obviously!), couldn’t resist this insult: “She can’t believe he’s dating Nicole and thinks she’s a skank.”
When Duff heard about Richie’s arrest, “she asked if Nicole had been coming from Joel’s,” says the source. “She kept saying she never knew Joel at all.”
Well given he allegedly dumped her because she refused to have sex with him, there are many ways they didn’t know each other!

L.A.-area residents, be warned! Nicole Richie is driving again!
After a few days of being driven to houses and parties, Nicole was spotted driving through L.A., resuming her shopathons at Fred Segal on Melrose.
She was later joined at the swanky hang for a lunch with Joel Madden. The two chowed down on the down-low before leaving … in separate cars. Can you blame him?

Despite appearances to the contrary, some couples in Los Angeles are still sharing smooches. Here’s a look at some lovers’ sightings over the weekend:
- Nicole Richie and new beau Joel Madden, walking hand-in-hand to the patio at the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood. Richie, who’s dealing with the fallout from her DUI arrest, sipped on a Coke while Madden drank juice. Before long, they were kissing passionately at their table. They also jetted to Hollywood lounge Teddy’s, where the affectionate couple (Madden rested his hand on Richie’s behind for a while.. he found it somehow!) indulged in some cocktails and hung out with Paris Hilton. Also making the scene: Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson, Matthew Perry and James Franco.
- Sandra Bullock and husband Jesse James, holding hands at L.A. eatery The Ivy. They dined on fried calamari and lime chicken.
- Naomi Watts and boyfriend Liev Schreiber, partying at Hollywood hot spot Cabana Club after the premiere of their movie "The Painted Veil". "They were snuggling and holding hands in one of the cabanas," says an onlooker.
- Nicollette Sheridan and fiancé Michael Bolton, dining at Beverly Hills eatery Mr. Chow. In the midst of bites of sautéed baby bok choy, vegetarian rice and butterfly pillows, they shared kisses.

- Mario Lopez, kissing and nuzzling "Dancing with the Stars" partner Karina Smirnoff at the Hot Hollywood party at the Sofitel Hotel in L.A. Despite their PDA (and their recent romantic Mexican getaway), Lopez insists the duo are "just friends out having a good time." Hmmm…

Nicole Richie: Post DUI update
Some interesting facts have come to light since Nicole Richie’s DUI arrest the other day.
Most shocking of all is the fact that she weighs 85 pounds!

a. According to Us Weekly, Nicole Richie is telling friends that the reason she was on the painkiller Vicodin during her recent arrest was to treat menstruation cramps. Vicodin is an opiate and Richie’s involvement with the drug raises concern because she was once hooked on heroin, and former addicts who dabble in other drugs risk relapse.
Come on Nicole. Period cramps?
b. The Nicole-Joel relationship is moving fast! Even though Nicole Richie has only been dating Hillary Duff’s ex, Joel Madden, for a few weeks, sources tell Page Six the two are moving ahead full speed.
Spies say Madden, who was rumored to have dumped Duff because she wouldn’t sleep with him, was listed on Richie’s booking papers after her arrest this week as her "emergency contact person."
